Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas and a fabulous New Year! I took a little break from writing both my blog and my current book as I wanted to relax and enjoy the festive period with my family. However, I did a little writing and editing because I felt the urge rather than feeling that I must do this. It has been a very chilled-out but enjoyable time in my home, and we have all benefitted from the slower pace and getting together with our extended family.

Well, hello, 2025… that came around quickly, and I can’t believe it is already the 2nd of January. Work and school loom next week, but we all feel rested and ready to return to a regular routine. So, what about those New Year’s resolutions? I haven’t really set any particularly challenging or life-altering goals for myself, but I want to keep reading and writing and developing my writer’s voice. I want to upskill my writing and think about creating excitement and tension in my stories. Having an editor will help me with developmental issues as the work progresses.

As always, I will continue working on my mental health and making sure I do not become overwhelmed by all my commitments. I want a good work-life balance so I can continue to work well in my career and also find time to write without this becoming all-consuming like it did last year. The key to a happy and healthy life and family is balancing everything well, and I will strive to have a better balance and good health in the coming year. Stress and anxiety are normal, but when they begin to affect everyday life, things need to change, and with some minor adjustments, I hope to have a better balance between work and family so both aspects get the best of me. Writing should then be a more leisurely journey, too.

I’ll keep this first post of the new year short and resume my regular posts next week. I am currently reading two different books, so I will likely review them once I have finished them. But for now, I wish everyone a healthy and happy 2025, and I hope all your goals and dreams come true. Happy New Year!
